On your first visit to Help with Handwriting, you will be asked questions about whatever it may be that is troubling you regarding your child’s handwriting. A full history of past handwriting problems, any medical conditions/developmental history and interventions tried by either yourself or your child’s school will also be asked to form a picture. Lastly and most importantly you will be asked to video your child’s writing so that their handwriting can be reviewed in ‘real time’.
All this information helps forms the handwriting advice and it is provided to me prior to our initial meeting.
During the Skype session, we will discuss the nature of the difficulties by reviewing the video and any handwriting examples. We will also identify other factors which may be important (such as pencil grip, sitting posture). At the end of our session, you will receive a ‘What to do next’ plan providing specific and instant advice for your child’s needs.
Features of the Handwriting Advice Clinic:
- 45 minute Skype session at a time suitable to you with an occupational therapist.
- Provided with a ‘What to do next’ plan.
