Does any of the following sound familiar?
- Their handwriting is sloppy and inconsistent. You’re wondering how to help and where to begin.
- Your child has lots of ideas but can’t get them down on paper. You’re both frustrated.
- Your child still hasn’t got their pen licence (not “consistent” enough, apparently). You know they’re capable and dread them being last to get their licence.
- Your child tires easily. They’re now falling below expected levels.
- You’re seeing a new level of scruffy writing. And you’re increasingly anxious over your child’s exams.
Whatever your goal - be it legibility, securing their pen licence of passing exams
This is what the kids say...
I doubt that you will believe this but Tom wrote the review below without being asked!
And this is what the parents say...

Skype?! Microsoft Teams?!? Yes. It’s actually a brilliant solution. Online video chat apps allow us to see and hear each other. We’ll share screens and go through your child’s work as though we’re sat right next to one another. There are no time delays, no confusion over who speaks next. The sound is crisp. The picture quality is sharp. The app is free and it works whether you use PC or laptop, Android or Apple.
We’ll need five things…
- You and your child
- A quiet room that’s free from distractions
- A table, paper and pen/pencil
- An internet-enabled device (mobile phone, tablet or laptop)
- Skype (it’s free)
Easy. Effective. See for yourself...

Will it work and will my child like this approach?
In short, YES and YES.
This will be no different to private, in-person tuition in your home. The instruction is the same. The level of learning is the same.
Skype keeps them engaged and motivated – it’s a game-changer for kids who are almost always tech-savvy, while the flexible lesson frequency is usually a god send for parents who want to choose how often their child should learn.

So, what is included?
Online
6 x Skype sessions – full support to help your child improve their handwriting, without having to leave your home (and the taster lesson ensures this is right for them).
45 minutes
Sessions are 45 minutes long, taken however often you choose. You have time to digest the content, ask questions and play an active role as a handwriting tutor.
Film them
You’ll film your child writing for 5 minutes before our first lesson. This helps me analyse their handwriting and the progress they’ve made.
In their words
Your child will tell us how they feel about their writing, through the picture-based ‘Here’s How I Write’ assessment.
Set goals
Handwriting goals are set each session. Your child will be there to discuss the homework produced and set new homework for next time.
Homework
I’ll provide worksheets linked to their goals. Created by myself, these worksheets have been nominated for awards, and this homework will be key to your child’s rate of progress.
Report
If you wish. I can provide an in-depth report for an additional fee of £120. This request should be made less than 1 month from our last lesson together.
Bonus
Expect the added bonus of an impromptu appearance from ‘Indie and Angel’ – my kittens, who’s curiosity is insatiable.
Get ready to be the expert tutor your child needs
Get ready for professional guidance which provides you with all the tools you need to become your child’s handwriting teacher at home.
I’ll be able to ‘see’ your child writing before we have our first lesson. I’ll tell you what I need to see. You’ll film them on your phone. Then send it to me (by email or Whatsapp) at least two days before we meet for our first lesson (this gives me time to analyse your child’s work).
This structured, step-by-step approach results in YOU helping your child achieve results such as these. . .

Wondering whether this is really right for your child? Uncertain as to whether you can play tutor? Whatever’s holding you back, there’s no pressure here. Let’s talk about it. Send me an email or book a discovery telephone call.
Whether you do or you don’t, here’s my best advice – act. Do something to help your child improve their handwriting. You sought out my website – and you did so for a reason. There are other ways I can help your child’s handwriting in addition to Skype tuition.
Handwriting difficulties do not go away. The amazing thing about these Skype lessons is the speed with which a child can progress from anxious and unsure to confident, determined and able to make improvements – even when I am not there.

Frequently asked questions:
Yes. This is an optional extra, but it can help ensure that your child’s teachers are on the same page as my lessons – working together towards shared handwriting goals.
Lessons take place on Skype however often you choose (most choose to take their lessons 3x a week, 2x a week, weekly, or bi-weekly). Each lesson is 45 minutes long. You’ll book your sessions in 6 lesson blocks. Your child is there for the entirety of the lesson, and usually the parent chooses to stay throughout as well.
At the start – we’ll review your child’s homework, all together – you, me, your child.
Skype means that we can all see and hear one another. For your child, it’ll be as though I’m sat next to them.
During the lesson – I’ll ask for their screen to be lowered, so I can see how your child’s hand moves when writing. Once they’ve finished, I’ll review their work (your child will hold their work up to the video camera). Throughout the lesson, I’ll give guidance on how they can improve their handwriting.
And at the end, we’ll discuss their progress together – you, me and your child.
I’ll then set homework for the coming two weeks, which will put into practice the techniques and tactics I’ve taught during the lesson.
Your little one might be struggling with letter legibility, size, formation or another common handwriting challenge. Your child is disillusioned with writing. Their confidence may have taken a hit, their school work might have nosedived.
You might have tried additional support at school, with little to no noticeable effect.
You want to see improvements in the shortest possible time.
I have many different techniques that can make a real difference to handwriting.
These lessons are designed around your child and what they need to learn, when they need to learn them.
Over the course of six lessons, your child can improve any aspect of their handwriting. As for you – Mum, Dad – I’m here for you too. Questions? I’ll answer them. I’ll guide you as to how best help your child. Feel free to email me in-between sessions for further advice and support. I’m always happy to help.
Family life is hectic (I completely understand) – so I work around you. Let me know what time suits you and we’ll go from there.
I’ll provide your child with handwriting tasks (homework) – for making progress in-between each session. This is a really important part of my lessons, and can really impact how quickly your child improves. The ultimate goal is for them to apply what they’ve learned when I’m not there instructing them.
I totally understand. Asking for help is never easy. Accepting it even less so.
Assure your child that I’m not here to embarrass them, but to help. Even if it’s the worst I’ve ever seen, all my brain conjures up are tips and techniques to help with their stumbling blocks. They may even find working with me is fun. Or “it’s not so bad”, as many of my teen learners say.
Absolutely – in fact, most of my Skype students are teenagers, and most have difficulties with legibility or struggle with writing speed. Some have been told by their teachers that their writing has to improve if they want to pass their exams. Others have parents who foresee a potential difficulty – these parents want help before it affects their child’s grades and/or confidence.
No not at all. I’ve worked with people from America, South Africa, Barbados, Spain, Majorca and Ireland.
Interestingly enough, handwriting styles sometimes have geographical differences, but the fundamentals of teaching handwriting remain the same – step by step, using a developmental approach.
This fluctuates depending on the need and time of year. I offer handwriting lessons every day except Fridays and Sundays. At the time of paying you’ll be able to book your first lesson.
Each lesson costs £60. They are bought in blocks of 6 lessons, taken however often you wish (most students choose to take lessons 3x a week, 2x a week, weekly, or bi-weekly).
Payment is made via Paypal at the time of making an appointment.
If you are paying in another currency Paypal will convert the sum into pounds.
Payment is in full.
45 minutes – any longer and children become tired and struggle to pick up new information. There is then a 5 minute catch up summary with the parents/guardian.
Every lesson is different and focused on your child’s needs, and usually involves:
- Writing exercises
- Instruction as to how what has been written can be improved
- Homework to be completed for the next lesson
- Sometimes lessons will involve games for maximum engagement
Yes please. I’ll guide you as to how you can help your child between lessons. And it’s always helpful to have someone angle the camera so I get a good view of what they’re writing.
We’ll also have a chat after the lesson so we can discuss your child’s progression, review the latest lesson and talk through what worked well and what didn’t.
