Wouldn't it be great to take your handwriting know-how to the next level?
I get it. Training with an occupational therapist is different. But that is the beauty as well. As a handwriting expert and occupational therapist, I have a unique view on teaching it. My OT training looked at fine motor skills, developmental theory and visual perceptual skills. These are the key skills to good letter formation and faster writing.
I used to work in a school, so I do understand your unique needs. Unlike other OT advice, my approach is for real classrooms. For example, I’ll never suggest using foam on classroom tables to draw letters. I’ll share the latest research. Then, I’ll show you practical strategies that work in your school. This isn’t about telling you how to teach. It’s about sparking ideas and starting talks on how it can be improved.
Whether you work in Reception to Year 11, you’ll find new ideas. They’ll change how you teach handwriting. Ready for those lightbulb moments? Let’s revolutionise handwriting instruction in your school.

"Good practical elements to the course.ย "
I found it very informative and feel the knowledge I have gained will be useful.ย"The emphasis seemed a lot more practical, child-friendly and based on a developmental approach rather than educational."
Iโve been on several courses including the NHS 5-day handwriting course (which technically makes me a handwriting tutor). But this was the first by an OT. The emphasis seemed a lot more practical, child-friendly and based on a developmental approach rather than educational. I particularly liked the balance between play and exercise. I just felt it was stuff I had been thinking was the right approach. So it was reassuring to realise I am on the right track""Loved everything"
I had no idea I knew so little it all completely made sense and Iโm excited to take it all back."Practical useful activities that can actually be used in school."
Good explanations of why children struggle to learn certain things."Inspirational and informative!"
Really enjoyed listening to a different OT perspective""This was most definitely one of the best (if not THE best) training I have attended."
Sheilagh provided an engaging, practical training approach towards handwriting. The training included the reasons why some children may have difficulties with their handwriting and how we as educators can implement strategies to further support these learners who are struggling in this area.""It was so useful having an expert you could ask real Q's and get real answers"
""I feel more confident"
I feel more confident to help or support a child in handwriting by this training. How do we get started?

Practice time may vary based on your child’s age and needs. Generally, we say to dedicate around 10 to 15 minutes of focused practice each day. This is after they have watched a 5 minute training video. Consistency is the key as it will yield the best results.
