- Welcome to your Handwriting Practice Club Hub
Hi there, I'm excited to be working with you.
Dear Student,
Hey there! I’m super excited you’re joining us. Here’s what you need to know:
1. Monthly Workbook: You’ll get a new workbook each month to practice in.
2. Just Joined? No worries! We have 21 days of fun writing activities in the “Worksheets” tab on the left. Do these until you get your first workbook.
3. Workbook Delivery: Your workbook and cool writing “stuff” (including a mystery pen!) will be sent out in a box on the 25th of each month. You should get it before the 1st.
4. Want Feedback On Your Work? Send your work to feedback@helpwithhandwriting.co.uk by Thursday 6pm for our Friday review. I pick 10 pieces of work, yours may be one of them. I’ll give tips to improve and it is all anonymous.ย
5. Not Sure What Happens When: We have a calendar of events in the ‘Key Dates’ section. In short, Zoom calls happen twice a month. Feedback on work is weekly. Both are optional.
Remember: Practice a little bit every day to see your writing get better.
Happy writing!
Sheilagh,

Let's connect
We’d love to hear your views.
- Do you have an idea on how we can make our club better?
- Would you like to leave us a review?
If you wish your review to be anonymous, please let us know and we will not place it on our website or in social media. When we use reviews we never say surnames because confidentiality is very important to us. This is how a name would appear: Chloe, age 13 or Dave, Dad to 11 year old.ย
Meet the Team involved with the Club
Sheilagh

I’m the founder, handwriting expert and OT. I’ve published two books on handwriting and I’m the handwriting expert for the Peppa Pig series. I create all our courses and see students for lessons and in the club.
Helen

Helen is our coordinator, Duke of Edinburgh Award assessor and OT. The report writing is shared between myself and Helen. She then submits them. This happens 2 weeks from when you finish the club.
Laura

Laura manages the support desk, she is invaluable. If you need to change a lesson or have a question she is the best person to help you. Often being able to answer everything quicker than the rest of us.
The Club Process

When you receive a club email, you’ll see one of these images to tell you where we are in the club cycle.ย
Frequently asked questions by students (10 minute video)
- 30 seconds – How often do you have to do this?
- 2min 12 seconds – I can’t think what to write.
- 2min 58 seconds – What happens in a zoom lesson?
- 5 min 2 seconds – why do you say a little and not a lot in one go?
- 5 min 44 seconds – How will I know that I am making progress?
- 6 min 52 seconds – What type of writing is expected?
- 8 min 19 seconds – When do I get my starter kit?
- 9 min 12 seconds – My writing is different in school than in the book.
Frequently asked questions by parents
When will we I get the box?
We ship all boxes on 25th of the month. They should be there by the 1st of the month. If you have not received yours, please email support@helpwithhandwriting.co.uk
We use Royal Mail 48 hour tracking service to get it to you as quickly as possible.
In December for existing members, we will post everything out by 15th.
What is the etiquette for the zoom calls, camera on/off and muted or not? We will be logging on from my Mum's account, should we change the name?
At the beginning of every call, I go through ‘club house rules.’ I do not mind if students want their cameras on or off. Some prefer to have them off.
My main rules are to respect opinions, mute when not talking, use real names, change the background only once, and have fun.ย
Unfortunately, we can't make the Zoom calls. Are you able to provide a recording?
No, I’m afraid they are not recorded. This is because, in my experience, students are reluctant to share their thoughts even down to our warm up activity when typing quiz answers in the chat. I want to make it as supportive as possible.ย
What email address should we put on the DofE portal, when giving the assessor's details?
Helen Jones is our assessor. Her email address is coordinator@
Is there an attendance requirement for the calls in terms of the DofE assessment?
No specific attendance for the Zoom calls. Many students have after school clubs that can restrict attendance.ย
Can you clarify the DofE requirement: is this 5 pieces of work to be submitted over the three month period?
Yes, this is the bare minimum. Most DofE students submit weekly. I do expect, at their age, to see full written answers rather than copying the work.ย
